a look at Halloween decor

David took these amazing photos of the house on Halloween night...

I put all my candles out in the window seals on the front windows of the house...

I LOVE this picture of the walkway. Jen, do you remember those candles and crooks from your wedding? I LOVE them and use them every year...

This one above is my favorite...

I love how David captured the light here. By the way, the big black thing on the left of the straw is a spider--if you couldn't tell. What a fun, fall, festive time of year!

Halloween

Even the pizza was in the Halloween spirit!

Here is my team in their costumes on a beautiful Halloween night! It was actually nice to have day light savings later so we could have a little more light when it came time for trick-or-treating. This year we had a ton more kids in the neighborhood. At last count there were 24 kids under 12 in our subdivision. Nice!

Go Cougars! Go big BLUE! I am sure my family is feeling like 'who is this girl?' We were never into football that much growing up, althought we have a long tradition of cheerleading at football games and Tyson did play while in high school. But I definitely married a big fan and as a consequence my family bleeds blue. This year Ethan was so excited to be a BYU football player and Nataleigh was equally excited to be a cougar cheerleader. We tried to get Jacob to be Cosmo--the BYU mascot-- but he settled for wearing a team jersey. I dressed up as a fan and David made his referee shirt out of electrical tape.

We got together with the Rasmussen cousins and you can see that we basically have our own football team when we all get together. Five of the six male cousins were cougars.
The kids got a ton of candy and Ethan was excited about our 'buy back' program where we give him cash for candy. He got to keep some candy, but was happy to trade in most of it for big bucks! We are off to the toy store tomorrow. Funny story--Nataleigh was excited about the buy back program until this morning when she asked if she could buy back some of her candy from us! Hilarious!

Concert at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square

On Friday night I performed with a Relief Society Choir at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
On the southwest corner of Temple Square is the Assembly Hall, a charming Gothic-style building with lovely stained-glass windows. This jewel of a building was constructed by Latter-day Saint pioneers in 1877.
My friend, Dr. Jane Fjeldsted, was asked to conduct the choir and invited many of us who have sung with her in the past to participate. Every year there is an international music competition and the winning composers have their pieces performed at the concert. We have been rehearsing every Sunday evening for 10 weeks and the culmination of our efforts was an evening of beautiful music

.
Me, Melora, John, and Elizabeth after the concert.

We were prohibited from taking photos during the concert, so this is a candid when the concert was finished. Jane is in black in the front.

David sat directly across from where I stood, so when I looked at the conductor I was looking right at him. I felt like I was singing to him all evening! I really appreciate his support throughout this rehearsal process. Here is a link to an article about the concert.

This concert was especially meaningful to me because I auditioned and was selected to sing a duet as part of the program. Singing in this beautiful building in front of hundreds of people was a thrill! It reminded me of when I had the opportunity to sing acapella 'I Need Thee Every Hour' at Sacré-Coeur Basilica, in Paris, France when our study abroad group traveled there. I remember hearing the words fill the cathedral. Music has been a huge blessing in my life!

Dancing

Cameron and Jana danced the night away! Their first song was called "Home" and has special meaning to them-ask them to tell you the story. As a gift to Cameron, Jana played a recording of her singing their special song. Cameron and Jana, we are so happy for you guys. You looked beautiful as you danced together--a perfect pair. Lots of love to you both!

reception

The reception was at Eaglewood Golf Course. It was so amazing up there. Jana's sisters did the flowers and did such an incredible job. The live band was so fun and it all added up to a great atmosphere.

This picture of Brooke cracks me up!

Cameron and Jana make such a great couple! And their natural beauty is illuminated by the breathtakingly beautiful landscape behind them! I told Jana she picked a pinnacle weekend when all the leaves were at their best. The timing couldn't have been better-right between two storms. By the time they returned to Utah from thier honeymoon the leaves were gone, the weather was cold and the mountains were brown. Their wedding, day however, will forever be remembered as more of the best fall days of the season.
These pictures of Cameron are a nod to 'Suave Cameron'. Oh yeah!

more pre-reception candids

This picture of all the neices and nephews was hilarious to watch...

The best part was the action behind the camera. Check out these crazy parents & photographers trying to get all the kids to 1) look at the camera and 2) smile. HILARIOUS!

Sista's

I gain great strength from my wonderful sisters. Each is unique and brings certain qualities to the family. When one is missing there is a noticeable hole. I love how each of these different pictures showcases the personalities of each sister.
