On Friday night I performed with a Relief Society Choir at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
On the southwest corner of Temple Square is the Assembly Hall, a charming Gothic-style building with lovely stained-glass windows. This jewel of a building was constructed by Latter-day Saint pioneers in 1877.
My friend, Dr. Jane Fjeldsted, was asked to conduct the choir and invited many of us who have sung with her in the past to participate. Every year there is an international music competition and the winning composers have their pieces performed at the concert. We have been rehearsing every Sunday evening for 10 weeks and the culmination of our efforts was an evening of beautiful music
.

Me, Melora, John, and Elizabeth after the concert.
We were prohibited from taking photos during the concert, so this is a candid when the concert was finished. Jane is in black in the front.

David sat directly across from where I stood, so when I looked at the conductor I was looking right at him. I felt like I was singing to him all evening! I really appreciate his support throughout this rehearsal process. Here is a link to an article about the concert.
This concert was especially meaningful to me because I auditioned and was selected to sing a duet as part of the program. Singing in this beautiful building in front of hundreds of people was a thrill! It reminded me of when I had the opportunity to sing acapella 'I Need Thee Every Hour' at Sacré-Coeur Basilica, in Paris, France when our study abroad group traveled there. I remember hearing the words fill the cathedral. Music has been a huge blessing in my life!
